Right to Information (RTI)

Right to Information Act 2005 & Declaration under section 4(1) of the RTI Act 2005

Introduction

Welcome to Birsa Munda College, where transparency and accountability are fundamental pillars of our institution. As per Section 4 (1) (b) of the Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005, we are committed to providing citizens with access to information to promote transparency and accountability within our public authority.

The Right to Information Act, 2005, enacted by the Parliament and effective since June 15, 2005, empowers citizens by granting them the right to access information under the control of public authorities. This initiative aims to foster transparency and accountability across all spheres of governance, including educational institutions like ours. As a college established by law made by the State Legislature, Birsa Munda College unequivocally falls within the purview of a public authority under this Act.

It is imperative for us to understand that while certain provisions of the RTI Act were immediately enforceable upon its enactment, others came into effect within 100/120 days thereafter. Therefore, it is essential for all universities and colleges, including ours, to diligently study the Act and take necessary measures for its implementation, including the proactive disclosure of specified information. This information must be readily accessible to the public through our college website, thereby ensuring transparency and accountability in our operations.
