The Department of History of Birsa Munda College has been in existence along with the nine departments since the very inception of this institution in 2018. Till now the Department has been offering Programme course in Under Graduate level as prescribed under the syllabus of the University of North Bengal. The subject is really beneficial to a large number of Hindi medium students of adjacent areas who wish to fulfill their aim of pursuing higher education. Being a part of Social Science, the subject ‘History’ makes the students conscious of society, culture, politics and economy, which in turn helps them to understand the society as a whole. The students of the Department are very active both in academic and co-curricular activities. They are benefitted by visiting University Museum and local historical places which is a part of new CBCS syllabus. The faculty is instrumental in laying the foundation of the Department and attending the academic requirements of the students
