ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:The Department of English was one of the nine departments with which the academic journey of Birsa Munda College began in 2018. From the very start, the Department was invested in creating an enriching space where the practice of critical thinking is given as much value as the UG syllabus. With this aim in mind, the Department began with its BA Programme where students were encouraged to step beyond the ambit of rote learning into the world of immersive learning through active engagement in the classroom space. In 2020, when the world was reeling under the challenges brought forth by the Covid-19 breakout, the Department took a bold decision of beginning its Honours programme and successfully managed to give wings to its academic dreams. One of the largest departments of Birsa Munda College, the Department of English boasts of an illustrious faculty base whose aim it is to encourage students to fearlessly ask questions and march on to become future thinkers and leaders of the world. Affiliated to the North Bengal University, the courses offered by the Department of English are as prescribed under the University syllabus. |
