About Birsa Munda College
The Birsa Munda College was established in the year 2018 with an aim to impart quality education to the rural population of Hatighisa and its surroundings areas which are basically tea plantation areas (with approx. 60% – 65% of STs and SCs population). The college is spreaded in an area of total 6.00 acres. Birsa Munda College is one among the few Hindi medium colleges with co-educational system affiliated to the University of North Bengal.
Birsa Munda College is located in one of the crucial areas of Dist Darjeeling of West Bengal, India. The geographical location of the institution is nonpareil with other Indian states as this region which is also popularly called the “Chicken-Neck Corridor” connects the eight North Eastern Indian states with the rest of India and also shares international boundaries with four major South Asian economies namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) of China.
Birsa Munda College can be reached by air, rail or road transport. Bagdogra Airport is about 9 kms away from the college while the nearest broad-gauge railway station that is the Siliguri Junction and New Jalpaiguri Station are 18 kms and about 22 kms respectively. The ASIAN Highway 2 and National Highways NH 31 connect Birsa Munda College through road systems.
